UPMC Hamot Insurance Update

You have likely heard about the expiration of the commercial insurance contracts between UPMC hospitals and Highmark on June 30, 2012.

It is important to clarify that UPMC Hamot has a separate contract that expires June 30, 2013.

It is also important to note that if you are participating in a Medicare or Medicaid plan, you will be unaffected by this change.

UPMC Hamot also has contracts with numerous other insurance companies, including Aetna, Cigna, Health America, United Healthcare, and the UPMC Health Plan.

In order to ensure continued access to your physician, it is important for you and your employer to select a plan that includes your doctor.

We believe that competition among insurance providers will benefit our patients, the community, and our region now and into the future.

Please talk to your health care provider if you have questions.
